Both fingernails and toenails can very hard to trim if they have been overly dry for a long period. To soften your nails for trimming, you can take a shower allowing your nails to soak in the process. Even though you can just soak your nails by dipping your hand in the water, showering not only offers a deeper soak but also makes nail trimming part of your cleanliness routine. You can use a pumice stone to buff away calluses and include it as part of your routine. Showering also softens the thick skin on your feet, making it easier to exfoliate.
Step 1 : Soften your nails and buff away calluses
Tip: Apply a moisturizer containing salicylic acid or urea after exfoliating to prevent dry, rough skin that leads to calluses & this.

Men’s Nail Care Grooming Step 2: Trim your nails
After buffing off calluses, trim your nails in a straight line while ensuring the trimming line cuts across the top-most part of your nail. This is important because it prevents developing ingrown nails. Although it is okay to trim your nails short, over-trimming beyond the white of the nail can injure your toe or fingers and increase the risk of infections. NAIL CARE & GROOMING nail care
Men’s Nail Care Grooming Step 3: Shape and smoothen your nails
After trimming, file your nails to smoothen the line and edges. Sharp edges increase the possibility of fissures and breaks as unsmoothed nails snag on clothing. Trimmed nails can be filed to attain a round or triangular shape, but these shapes are prone to breaks. To prevent breaks, nails should be shaped straight across the top-most part.
Bonus tip: Apply coconut oil to your nails after trimming to prevent your cuticles from fraying.
